I have a habit of buying books, but this book came to me from my hubby for Christmas and it was the Bompass and Parr book of Jelly, and it was inspiring! What these two guys can't do with jelly isn't worth doing. So, I like trying new things and it was cupcake no.1's birthday, so I thought I would have a go!
Last year, for the birthday of cupcake no.1 I made a birthday cake in the shape of a bus (it was my first attempt at a bus, it wasn't a great bus, but it was a bus). This year I asked him what he would like for a birthday cake and he said 'a bus!'. Whether this is because he genuinely wanted a bus (again) or because he thinks that all birthday cakes are bus shaped I'm not sure. However, I got cracking on a bus, and I think I did a little better this year!
This isn't the cake - this is the bus I copied to make the cake...
We were given some washable nappies by a friend to use with our new cupcake - as we had a few, but not quite enough to be full time washable, but with the top up we've now got lots! So, I made some cupcakes to say thankyou!
The same weekend we were invited to a birthday party for the daughter of a friend and so I made some to take there too:
So, we went out and the Pet Lamb Patisserie girls were there again - in their lovely vintage dresses I'm always so envious of!
And, well, it would have been rude not to have bought something... especially when it all looked so good!
Jammie dodger - it had jam in the middle too and was very yummy!
We had a drainage problem and we got the lovely builders who build our house to fix it! They are good fun and work hard and so I thought they deserved a treat!
Vanilla cupcakes with orange icing (Hummingbird Bakery stylee) and a candy orange slice.
